LA STAGE ALLIANCE seeks ovation voters

LOS ANGELES, May 12, 2006 -- LA Stage Alliance (LASA) is seeking independent voters for the 2006-2007 Ovation Awards season beginning in September. LASA is the non-profit organization that produces the Ovation Awards, Southern California's only peer-judged theatre awards program.

To be eligible, a potential voter must be a working theatre professional with three or more years' experience. The voting pool has included actors, directors, designers, artistic directors, literary managers, playwrights, dramaturges, technicians, administrators, stage managers, educators and producers. Voters must also have access to a computer with Internet access and must attend a mandatory voter-orientation in August.

If selected, independent voters will be required to become Professional Members of LASA, at a minimum cost of $75 per year. Voters are required to see a minimum of 25 registered shows in a season, with 20 of those being in the 99-seat theatre category, and voters will be asked to travel to theatres throughout Southern California. Seats for voters at registered shows are complimentary.

To be considered for selection, applicants should send a professional resume, voter application (available at http://www.LAStageAlliance.com/pdf/LASAOvationApplication06-07.pdf), and a cover letter describing five memorable moments in LA theatre in the past year.

Applications should be postmarked no later than June 9 to: Trena Pitchford, LA Stage Alliance, 644 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90017; or faxed by that date to (213) 614-0561. No phone calls will be accepted.

LA Stage Alliance is dedicated to building awareness, appreciation and support for the performing arts in greater Los Angeles. LASA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization serving over 230 performing arts organizations through programs including LA Stage Times in the Los Angeles Times, LA Stage magazine, www.LAStageAlliance.com, LAStageTIX, which includes the online half-price ticketing service and Now Playing, a comprehensive list of member shows.
