"JOHNNY GUITAR," THE MUSICAL

OPENS FRIDAY, JUNE 2 AT LA MIRADA THEATRE

Press Night: Saturday, June 3

LA MIRADA, CA, May 12, 2006 - "Johnny Guitar," the musical, the Outer Critics Circle "Best Off-Broadway Musical of 2004," opens at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts June 2 and runs through June 18. Using a mix of '50s rock, doo-wop and steamy ballads, "Johnny Guitar" is a tuneful, laugh-filled musical comedy that embraces and sends up '50s-style movie acting, melodramatic romance, and rough-and-tumble cowboy action. This tempestuous tale of a sultry saloonkeeper and a jealous tycoon is based on the cult film favorite starring Joan Crawford. The play is produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment.

The leading roles are played by Michelle Duffy, who has performed in McCoy Rigby Entertainment productions twice before in "Dancing at Lughansa" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown;" Kevin Earley, returning to the La Mirada stage after having been in McCoy Rigby Entertainment's production of "My Way," which inspired the release of his debut CD, "Earley Standards;" Alan Campbell, a Tony Award nominee for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in "Sunset Boulevard" and a star in Susan Stroman's "Contact;" and Valerie Perri, well-known for her performance as Eva Peron in the Tony-award-winning musical "Evita."

Supporting cast members include: Eric Anderson, who was recently honored by the LA Drama Critics with the first ever Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre and was in McCoy Rigby Entertainment's production of "My Fair Lady" last year; Keith Bearden, most recently seen in the pre-Broadway run of "The Drowsy Chaperone" at the Ahmanson Theatre; Michael Butler Murray; Ed Sala; and David Sinkus, who originated the roles of Bart/Tom/Carl in the original Off-Broadway production of "Johnny Guitar," the musical.

"Johnny Guitar," the musical is directed by Joel Higgins who wrote the show's lyrics, co-wrote the music and directed the original Off-Broadway production. Higgins also co-starred in the long-running "Silver Spoons" on NBC. The playwright is Nick van Hoogstraten and the composer is Martin Silvestri. Sound design is by Julie Ferrin, set design by Richard Odle, lighting design by Steven Young, casting by Julia Flores, choreography by Jane Lanier, and the musical director and conductor is Steve Wight. Tom McCoy is the producing artistic director of McCoy Rigby Entertainment.
