BOSTON COURT PROVIDES PATRONS WITH INNOVATIVE EVENTS DURING "GILGAMESH"
PASADENA, Calif., February 12, 2007 -- Patrons of Pasadena's Boston Court have numerous special events to choose from surrounding the season opener, "Gilgamesh," which runs March 3 - April 8. The Theatre @ Boston Court, the theatrical production company programming the Main Stage, will hold four special events on eight afternoons or evenings in March.
"This will be the first in a series of season-long discussions of theater, spirituality and timely societal topics in which we bring together patrons, authors, production company members and community leaders," said Stacy Barnes, director of development for The Theatre @ Boston Court.
"Illuminations," March 1, will plumb the religious depths of "Gilgamesh," as well as its relevance to current world views as representatives of Pasadena-area inter-faith communities join audience members for a 60-minute discussion starting at 6:30 p.m. until curtain at 8 p.m. A second "Illuminations" discussion will be held on March 29 after the performance.
"Live Wired," March 9, a social event for younger urbanites, will entertain patrons starting at 7:30 and after the evening performance with new music, refreshments, coffee, goodies, a swag bag give away and The Theatre @ Boston Court's brand of cutting edge theatre.

"Meet Stephen Mitchell," March 11, will present the renowned religious scholar and author of this new version of "Gilgamesh" to patrons for a post-matinee question-and-answer session and book signing. Copies of "Gilgamesh" will be available for purchase.
"Late Nite Salon @ The Court," Boston Court's after-hours, informal coffee house, will provide a relaxed setting for patrons and "Gilgamesh" creative people to talk about the play over free coffee and desserts. The salon will be held Fridays, March 16, 23, 30 and April 6 following the 8 p.m. show.
This is The Theatre @ Boston Court's fourth season. This new translation of the ancient classic, "Gilgamesh," was adapted for the stage and directed by Stephen Sachs.

Gilgamesh, the warrior hero-king, and his friend Enkidu, a naked wild man who has been civilized through the erotic arts of a sexual priestess, set out on an agonizing, unforgettable mythic journey. The most ancient text in the world, "Gilgamesh" remains a powerful reminder of the timeless relevance of love, courage, grief and the search for meaning in life.
"Gilgamesh" previews for six performances beginning February 22. Preview tickets are priced at $15 and regular performances cost $30. Senior and student discounts are also available. Tickets can be purchased online at bostoncourt.org or by calling (626) 683-6883. Boston Court will also hold a "Pay What It's Worth" performance on Sunday, March 25, 2 p.m. Patrons arrive early to claim a free seat, then after the performance, make a donation based on what they believe the performance was worth to them. No reservations will be taken and doors will open at 1 p.m. Boston Court is located one block north of Colorado at the corner of Mentor Ave. and Boston Ct. and offers free parking for patrons in the theatre's private lot.
The season continues with the May 12th world premiere of Mickey Birnbaum's "Bleed Rail;" the July 28th world premiere of Eric Whitacre's musical "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings;" and the October 13th west coast premiere of Carlos Murillo's "Dark Play or Stories for Boys."
"Gilgamesh" is supported in part by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Founding Director Z. Clark Branson, and the generous contributions of The Theatre @ Boston Court patrons.
