PASADENA, Calif., September 15, 2009 – Boston Court presents a stellar lineup of performers during the Fall Classical Series of the 2009 Music at the Court season at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor.
The series begins Sunday, October 18, 7:00 p.m. when pianist Robert Thies returns to Boston Court with a mix of virtuosic Russian romantic, German, and French piano music. Thies is an artist renowned for his consummate musicianship and poetic temperament whom the LA Times called a pianist of "unerring, warm-toned refinement, revealing judicious glimmers of power."
On Sunday, October 25, 7:00 p.m., pianist Ming Tsu leads a trio backed by cellist Joon Sun and violinist Lorenz Gamma in an evening of "Musical Explorations" of contemporary works by a diverse selection of world-renowned composers such as Bright Sheng, Manuel Enriquez, and Alfred Schnittke. Tsu, a member of Southwest Chamber Music, is widely recognized as a soloist and collaborative pianist who has concertized in Europe, Asia, Mexico, Canada and the United States.
On Saturday, November 7, 8:00 p.m., the Jung Trio, including pianist Jennie Jung and her sisters, violinist Ellen Jung and cellist Julie Jung, brings soul-stirring chamber music performances to the Boston Court stage. The Jung trio has established its status as one of the notable rising young ensembles of today and has appeared in concerts all across North America as well as around the world.
The series concludes Sunday, November 8, 7:00 p.m., with "Alternating Current," an exploration of musical origins by pianist Inyoung Huh. Acclaimed by the Los Angeles Times as "a prominent pianist," Huh, a member of The Perlman Music Program, has won widespread recognition for her unique blend of technical mastery and deep understanding of musical origins.
