READIES TWO NEW
MINI-SEASONS FOR BOSTON COURT PATRONS
PASADENA, Calif., March 26, 2008 – Music at the Court (formerly Zebulon Projects) presents an exciting lineup of jazz, classical, blues, folk, story-telling and poetry during the two-series 2008 Music at the Court season at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor. Headliners for the spring series include Ernie Watts, Robert Thies, Iron Mountain String Band, James Sullivan, HeartÉBeat, Tom Peters, Elaine Muray and Scott Martin's Latin Soul Band. The fall series lineup will be announced soon.
The spring series begins with contemporary classical pianist Robert Thies, May 3, 8 p.m. Described by the Los Angeles Times as "A pianist of unerring warm-toned refinement, revealing judicious glimmers of power," Thies plays Debussy, Ravel, among others, in this stunning solo piano concert.
Elaine Muray brings her unique active storytelling (for ages 12 and up) May 4, 7 p.m., with adaptations of folktales and original material for her mesmerizing "embodied voice story arts."
Regular guest artist Tom Peters, contrabassist and composer, returns May 17, 8 p.m. with a continuation of his musical and poetic journeys with "Into the Night," an exploration of the meanings and folklore of nighttime.
Classical clarinetist James Sullivan and friends bring an evening of classical music designed to stir, inflame and tickle the imagination, May 18, 7 p.m.
A Music at the Court favorite, jazz saxophonist Ernie Watts and his quartet return May 31, 8 p.m. for an evening of their signature smooth jazz.
The Iron Mountain String Band plays Appalachian mountain music guaranteed to lift you right out of your seat June 1, 7 p.m.
The poetry of HeartÉBeat delivers a San Francisco Beat poetry/jazz happening June 7, 8 p.m. with words and music that defined the Beat generationÉKerouac, Ginsberg, Miles, Coltrane.
The spring series concludes with Scott Martin's Latin Soul Band, an intoxicating blend of Latin and Soul, Jazz and Blues, June 8, 7 p.m.
Music at the Court concerts are held in Boston Court's Marjorie Branson Performance Space, an intimate and acoustically exquisite hall of warm woods and metal construction. All shows are $25 general admission, $20 senior/student, except Muray, which is $10 general admission. A Series Pass can be purchased for $100 per person, which includes tickets to any five performances. Each Series Pass purchased by May 1st receives a free admission to Muray on May 4th.
Music at the Court is a presentation of the Boston Court Performing Arts Center under the leadership of Executive Director Michael Seel. Music at the Court talent producer is Mimi Champlin.
